Waiting.

So I am learning that I need to wait for Gods plan for my life. As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:1-
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
And the main thing I have learned in the past few days is that the time for everything is GOD'S time, not MY time! I started learning this when I found out I was moving. I had to wait for God to tell my dad where we were going to go. And now I am learning this for many other things in my life. And even if I don't know what is going to happen next in my life, God has a plan and he will reveal it to me in his time. I just have to be patient and listen.

You Won't Relent

My favorite worship song right now is You Won't Relent by Jesus Culture. I listen to it all the time. Sometimes i just put my iPod on repeat and listen to it over and over again. I love it! Here are my favorite parts of the song...
Come be the fire inside of me
Come be the flame upon my heart
Come be the fire inside of me
Until You and I are One
This part is one of my favorites because its what I want. I want God to be the fire in me so that I am always living for him no matter what! And the last part saying "Until you and I are one" reminds me of Philippians 2:5, which says...
In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had.
I want to be like Christ in all aspects of my life so that its like we are one and a big way to do that is talked about in the verse above. I want my relationships with others to be like Jesus' relationships on earth, I want to be a humble servant. But I cant do that without Christ being the fire inside of me! I cant rep God without him in me! I also really like this part...
I don't want to talk about You
Like You're not in the room
I want to look right at You
I want to sing right to You
This part talks about kind of the same thing. But it makes me think "Do I act like I would if Christ was in the room all the time?" and the answer is no. I wish it was yes but sadly its not. I want to live my life for Christ 24/7. I want to look at him and sing to him. I want to praise him with everything I do! I want that!
But how am I going to get these things? I need to spend time with him one on one everyday and when I am not talking to him or reading and memorizing his love letter to me then I need to be praising him with everything I do. And with his help I am going to try my best to do that!
Is Christ the fire inside of you? Do you act like you would if he was in the room all the time?

Guatemala's Independence Day!

Yesterday was Guatemala's Independence Day! The night before we went to el Parque Central and saw some of the Independence Day eve celebrations like a parade, fireworks (I was the closest to fireworks that I had ever been), and new foods. I tried these donuts with a sweet syrup in the middle, they were really good. Then yesterday we went to see the actual Independence Day festivities and I have some pictures...This is one of the bands that was in the parade. They were really good, they were playing Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) by Shakira which is the World Cup theme song.
There were people all over selling different things and we saw this guy selling cotton candy. It must be a world wide thing to sell at celebrations.
This is the national bird, the Quetzal.
These guys were marching simultaneously. They were very cool to watch.
These kids did two dances to Jailhouse Rock and The Nicest Kids in Town from Hairspray.
After the parade we went to the Kendalls house and had a BBQ with the Servants 4 Him team. It was so much fun! While we were up on her roof taking pictures we saw the clouds coming over the mountain. They looked so amazing. Clouds really are so cool, and to think that God created them and they do so many things (float with tons of water in them, make volcanoes disappear, and can form to the shapes of mountains as they come over them). They really are an amazing creation! I love them!
We ended the day with communion.
All in all it was an awesome day! Hope you had an awesome day yesterday too.

Spanish Tutoring

Today Clay, Emily, and I started Spanish tutoring. Clay and I have Jose as our tutor and Emily has Sandra. Most of it was in Spanish and I understood basically all of it. We talked, read, learned, and did some exercises. He also gave us homework but it wasn't to hard, I have already finished it. During the lesson I noticed was how much vocabulary I already knew/remembered from just being down here for 2 weeks. And any words that I didn't know I would ask him to say them in English and then I would write them down. Before he came I thought 3 hours of Spanish lessons would be hard and tiring but it wasn't that bad, I actually kind of enjoyed it. It was really funny though because at the begining he had Clay and I practice speaking fast and replying fast (I am going to have to work on that).
Well thats all for now, time to study!

Now you see it...Now you dont.

As you can tell both of the pictures above are taken at the same place but just at different times. I think is is so neat that clouds can change your view in a matter of hours (sometimes minuets). If you get up early enough in the morning you can see the volcanos very clearly and as the day goes on they begin to disappear. Usually you can still tell that they are there but you cant see them completely. But some days they just vanish all with just a little help from Gods creation, clouds. I guess you could say that I have been so amazed by Gods creation of clouds this week.

And yesterday we had the Ruanos over for dinner. We had pasta and homemade garlic bread which was delicious. After dinner the kids (Clay, Emily, Jose, Dennis, Rossana, Bryan, and I) played games and then ended up playing soccer in the dark out in a field in our neighborhood. It was so much fun!
Hope you had a fun night last night too :)

Santo, Santo, Santo

Yesterday I went to a youth group. They sang worship in both Spanish and English and I really liked that. I sang in both English and Spanish and even though I didn't know much of the what I was saying, I did know that I was praising God. I actually felt more of a connection singing to him in Spanish then I did singing to him in English. I think it was because I didn't care if I knew exactly how to say the words I was singing but the fact that I was singing them anyways.
Have you ever worshiped in a different language? If you haven't, you should try it some time.

Today, we went on an adventure to find this cross (in the picture above). I was helping my dad with directions but with me being very directionally challenged we got lost, even with the help of the GPS, that tells you how good I am at directions. Well we ended up going up a very steep road with almost no gas that lead to some statue. Then I was almost positive how to go back down, I am better at back tracking then I am at directions, but I was wrong. We went down the way that I said and guess where we ended up, at the cross!! And we figured out later that if you come up the right way then you have to pay 5Q to go up and see it so me being very directionally challenged saved us money!

On Monday morning at 6:20 am I was on a plane to Atlanta. Almost as soon as I got off that plane I got on a new one that was headed for the BEAUTIFUL country of Guatemala where I am now living.

I love to fly. Yes, the snacks and movies are great, But my favorite part is just staring out the windows at the clouds (see picture above). I could spend the whole plane ride just staring out the window. Sadly I couldn't do so on the first plane because I didn't get the window seat but on the second plane ride I probably stared at the clouds for 30 min. I love how they look and I just want to sit on them, though I know that I would just fall right through, and that makes them even cooler. To think that God created them to float in the sky like they do is just so amazing to me because I don't know how they stay up there when they are carrying so much water. I am sure there is some long scientific explanation for it but I don't care, I just think its so amazing how he created them to just float. His creation never ceases to amaze me and this week I have just been so amazed with clouds, from seeing them out the plane window to seeing them over Guatemala City as we drive over the mountain and look down at it.

What part of God's creation have you been amazed by this week?
